I shot one last week, brand new out of the box and not one hiccup. the mags could be a little stronger and the fact that you can't change the grip swell is the only things I didn't like. I hope they come out with a conversion kit as well.

Went through it's first 1000 rounds without a cleaning and only 2 failures, that weren't ammo related.
I guess that answers the questions I have about removing the safety.

Adding replaceable backstraps would have been nice but in reality it would have brought the cost to the same as their FS models. It woud have been hard to sell a .22 at that price. IMO

It probably wouldn't be a good idea since you would only be relying on the trigger for the safety and it's a hammer fired gun not striker fired. The thumb safety is for the hammer, I think I would want it there myself. On striker fired guns there is more than 1 safety on the trigger bar assembly.
What I would like to know is, can put that thread protector on the compliant M&P 22's that we get. They sell it at Brownell's and when I called they said that it can be shipped to Canada with no problems.
