Hi Guys

I am going to be purchasing a new 22 soon, and have narrowed it down between these two.
(I'm left handed if that makes a difference)

Would anyone be able to help me compare the two?
Accuracy?
Reliability?
Anything else I should know?

Thanks!

most hand guns are going to boil down to what fits best in your hand and what feels best to you.

A guns accuracy matters, but how well you shoot that gun matters more. from a bench rest one might be more accurate than the other, but in your hand, you might be more accurate with the other one.

Best thing to do is pick them both up and feel them and see which you like best.

I don't think anyone here can comment on the accuracy, reliability of the M&P 22 but the GSG runs great and has pretty good accuracy. It will be a while before we see how the M&P 22 holds up. After all, it is being made by the same people that make the Walthier P22.

Good points, I'll try out a GSG1911 as soon as I can.
I'll start googling away about the M&P22 to see if it is similar to the M&P9 in terms of dimensions and feel since I doubt I'll get to play with one

In terms of dimension and feel, the m&p 22 is the same as the m&p 9. No interchangable backstraps. The grip is molded with a small to medium backstrap. Perfect for my hands. I have only held, never fired, the gsg and it feels a bit cheap in my hands. The m&p feels far more rugged and with 1200 rounds down the pipe, I have yet to experience a single failure of any kind. The mag release can be switched to left handed and it already comes with ambi slide release and safety. Accuracy is easily on par with my SIG 226 classic. It has the thumb safety like a 1911 which is my only major gripe. I believe this is optional on some of the centerfire M&P pistols. I personally dont care for it, but it is added safety no matter how you look at it.
Several people who have shot both my SIG and M&P prefer the M&P. They like the E2 grip of the SIG, but still prefer how the M&P shoots.
My 2cents.

Yes

Wait, wait, wait! The M&P22 is available in Canada now?

Very limited amounts. Questar is the only dealer that has had any that I know of. Another issue is lack of magazines. Gun only comes with one and no one has any others.

Ive used my M&p 22 for the last 2 days. I like the feel. Fairly accurate so far but is low and to the left a little.

I really like it as its my first pistol. Thought I would learn with something cheaper to run!

I had the GSG and it was a great, fun gun. Don't know much about the other, but the 1911 platform is tried and tested for 100 years or so. Comes down to what you like better. Only thing I found cheap about the GSG was the finish, which wore down quicker than other pistols. Otherwise it was very dependable.

questar just got the .22 m&ps in stock...and they also got the M&P .22rl mags, but theres only 1 left...I bought all the other ones :D

How does it compare to a full sized M&P pistol?

I don't suppose the .22 slide can be used on a full size frame.

Totally different internals. The full sized M&P is striker fired and the M&P22 has a hammer. Barrel on the M&P22 is integrated into the frame. Only looks like a M&P on the outside. Nothing is interchangeable except for the sights. Full size M&P is a real S&W, M&P22 is a re-branded Walther.
