M&p-22

Its too bad this isnt avail. in Canada. Given the M&P brand and sharp price point it definitely attracts a crowd. Double the price, however, and people may look elsewhere to put their money down.

I saw a review on youtube about this pistol. It says that The size is excatly the same with M&P 9 or 40.

I don't understand why it needs to be brought up to Canadian standard for the 22 one. They all (22,9, &40) have the same barell length, no?

I would pay just as much for an mp 9 as an mp22 , main reason for a 22 in my eyes is practice so why not practice with the same pistol as you shoot normally.

If you're concerned about shooting the "same" pistol in .22 (Although it's still different from the 9mm) then why wouldn't you do what's suggested below? I would think you'd want a better shooting .22 than the M&P for $800.

I would pay $3-400 for a .22 conversion kit from say, Apex Tactical, or Bar-Sto, both have hinted around this on Amurican forums.

I have sent S&W an email in the past requesting that the barrel length for the M&P22 be increased by a few millimeters so they could be imported to Canada. Never heard a word back from them. I just sent them another email suggesting that adding a factory threaded barrel, as an option for the M&P22, would be a good idea. I mentioned that this would allow US customers to purchase the pistol with a threaded barrel already from the factory, instead of having to source one from another company, plus this would make the barrel length well over 105mm so it could be imported to Canada. A win-win for them. I basically said that if this option was available and import approval was given, I would be buying one.

My suggestion to everyone here that would like to see the M&P22 come to Canada, is send an email to S&W directly yourselves and do not wait for a dealer or importer to try and make things happen. The more emails that S&W gets from the customers the better the chance of them thinking there might be something to this.

I don't think asking them to make the standard barrel abit longer will get anywhere since it doesn't benefit the US customers as they can already buy the current model, but adding a factory threaded barrel would be something that might interest the US customers since they can legally own suppressors in many states. We can't just think of what would benefit us here, as they couldn't care less.

Just a suggestion. :D

Is there a distributor bringing them in with a longer barrel? They are prohib as they sit (104mm bbl).

Did you even bother reading the thread? See the quoted post by Ice14!

All this hype because it's part of the M&P line?

Look, I love the M&P and I own one myself but there are other .22's out there that have a proven track record.

S&W must be lovin' this.

I'd like an M&P in.22 for draw and fire drills...much cheaper to shoot than my .40 and I could use my duty rig. S&W sells lots of M&Ps in Canada so I think an extended or threaded barrel makes some commercial sense. I don't undefstand why the centerfire guns have 4.25" barrels but the rimfire guns don't...

Well I agree with you that it would make some commercial sense to offer a threaded barrel. Like I mentioned in my previous post. If more people send S&W an email requesting it the better chance of something happening. ;)
