Was in my lgs the other day and they had a m&p 40 and was handling it and thought it was pretty nice and a good price too. I know it comes in .45 also. anyone have any experience with these? what do you think. thanks.

I have an mp45, only a few hundred rounds through it so far but no ftf's. Handles nicely. I still miss 1911's, but switched over for a variety of reasons. It is miles ahead of the glock 21sf that I had in terms of comfort, ergonomics, trigger etc. Very light recoil. I recomend looking around for one with no external safety's and try to find one without the annoying mag disconnect. That goes for all m&ps. .45 acp is my favorite pistol round so buying a .40 was never an option :)

I consider the M&P45 to be in the Top 3 for non-1911 .45 pistols (along with the P220 and USP).

Honourable mention to the G21SF (though still too big for my CeeLo Green-esque baby hands), and I've heard good things about CZ97s.

I had an M&P45 for just about a year, fired 5000 rounds, no issues with failures of any kind. The gun is generally the most accurate M&P, I found the accuracy to be very good indeed. Grip size is easily the smallest of any double stack 45, and very close to 1911 dimensions. The only thing that the M&P45 needs is an Apex sear and striker block, and you're good to go.

Mine has maybe 500 rounds through it. I put in an APEX action kit and Big Dot Express sights...

I would take this gun anywhere, anytime. I'd take it over any 1911...pretty much any pistol I've ever fired. I now understand why some Glock users are rabid fanboys...I feel the same way about the M&P platform, and the M&P45 is a big part of the reason.

Come on......just get one!

I was a HUGE 1911 fanboy, and I sill love the history and so on of the 1911...

that being said, the m and p .45 i have is ten times better, for such a light gun, they lowered the action so its much less snappy then other 45's

around 4k+ rounds, not a single malfunction, and I really only clean it every 500rnds or so, and thats just a quick clean, not taking the whole thing apart.

like someone else said, throw in an apex kit to lighten the trigger a bit, and this gun is top top notch.

minde does not have the pesky magazine safety, but it does have the thumb safety, which I like, its out of the way, and gives me some extra safety when I need it.

good luck finding one in canada is the only bad part... I have yet to see another two tone mp .45, aside from shooters above me
