M&p 9 pro core question

Hi all,

I just traded my cz75bd with this m&p 9 pro core. I went to the range to test it. Pistol run fine.

However, every time I slam in a full mag the slide would go forward into battery and put a round in the chamber without me releasing the slide forward. If I put in a mag gently it won't do it. The previous owner run idpa with it, so i thought probably it was setup like that on purpose. What makes me question that logic is I could replicate this slamming forward without touching the slide release with empty or no mag by hitting the bottom of the gun against my weak palm.

Do I have a malfunctioning pistol here or most/all m&p behave that way? Should I worry about it?

I don't really like the no safety whatsoever, but I do like the pistol overall.
 
Closure when a full magazine is positively seated is common.
The pistol does have safety features, internal and external. It won't fire unless you pull the trigger.
 
All my Glocks and my PPQ do the same if I slam the mag in; even when I'm very careful to not touch the slide lock. Makes getting back to action even faster!

Just make sure your finger is well clear of the trigger when reloading, as it should be!
 
I guess the most important safety feature is the one holding the gun! Lol. I've never had any polymer gun before, do all polymer gun does that? Send the slide forward when full mag is inserted? . None of my steel one does that, so I was just taken aback a little.

I have the pro CORE ported and the same on the factory 10 round mags, on the iRunGuns pinned mags it functions normally. S&W make their 10 rounders very tight so the last round barely fits.
 
My HK45 seems to do it if I really drive it home. I never noticed it at the range. Maybe I just don't reload aggressively enough lol
 
Most of my guns do this as well. Para ord 1640, pardini gt40, tanfoglio match (cz75 clone), mp pro core L does this.
 
all my M&P's do this.
i just always assumed it was intended.

(9, 9C, 9 Pro Core, 40, 45)

actually that said my 22 one does not do that.
different mag im assuming.

my Glock does not do this either 17C, nor does my Ruger SR9.
 
When you slam the magazine hard, even more if you touch the frame while doing so, it create enough vibration so the slide and slide lock loose their contact, the slide lock spring then act as normal and get the slide lock out of the way and the slide is driven home. With some pratice you can do the same whitout a mag. Just hit the butt of your pistol with your palm
