M&P 9 question.

As a striker fire, even without a trigger job, the M&P pull would be under 10lbs. Mine started out of the box at 6.

From a previous comment on not having a thumb safety, The m&p uses a trigger safety, so as you pull it, it hinges clear allowing the trigger to move rearward to release the striker. As a result, the reset only seems long if you fully release the trigger for you next shot. In some respect, the trigger behaves as a DA for movement; again a designed safety feature. With a bit of work you can shorten the reset and the full travel forward, but you need a different trigger safety for the latter.
I don't find it so bad on rapid firing, but a bit annoying when I'm taking my time. Not annoying enough for me to FUBAR it though.:)
 
I much prefer it with no mag disconnect, so that I can drop the mag and then fire it (empty) before putting it back in the holster.

If it has a disconnect, I have to show clear, then put a mag in, fire, remove mag and holster. A pain.

Hello Ganderite, I don't have either of those issues ,as I'm usually the only one at the range. :)
 
There's another consideration about the magazine safety...

If your troops are trained to remove the magazine while the pistol is still in the holster, it is then perfectly safe to draw and unload the chamber round. It's an administrative deal, not a tactical consideration.

Some people think this is a terrible idea and dump on any shooter that 'needs' it...but that's rather unfair. When a sport shooter is at the range, he or she is there for fun, and can devote full attention to what they're doing. An armed professional, OTOH, may be tired at the end of a long busy shift, distracted or preoccupied by the events of the day, or thinking about everything else that has to be done at the end of a shift. The mag safety provided an extra margin of safety during the unloading process.
