Had 'er out to the range FINALLY! Put 500 rounds through it, woot!

Initially it was all over the paper. After 300 rounds or so, both the pistol and I settled down.

I was getting 2.5" - 3" groups @ 20 yards with a bag rest.

Windage was dead on the money, but elevation was out by ~ 4". It was shooting high.

So, when I aimed at the bottom of the paper (about 4" below the black "10 ring", and centered) , I was putting 7-8 out of 10 in the black.

My P99 just required a front sight swap for a similar problem, but what to do about the M&P?

I was shooting som Wolf 136 LRN reloads, Winchester Gov't 124 Gr. (I think), and some Rem UMC 115 Gr. - all did more or less the same.

Otherwise I am totally stoked about the gun, not one FTFire, FTFeed or FTE.

Any suggestions?

hi there ,
remember it is a tactical firearm, used for tactical situations ,by military and police ,and has fixed sites on it .
most tactical / self defence confrontations happen at about 10 yds or less.
now take in to account that the( sites ) sit about an inch above the centre of the bore diametre.
so for the bullet traveling out of your barrel to impact the target at the zero (which is probably about 10 yds)and is also the vector of your line of sight ,the bullet is going to be rising to your line of sight and therefore at 20 yrds it will still be rising above your line of sight to at least 2 or 3 inches .
also im just guessing that you are using (point of aim) site picture and that would give you another inch bullet rise above your line of sight at 20 yrds .
i would bet if you shoot from 10 yrds and use a 6 o-clock hold for your sight picture that you would be bang on ,or at least very close .
i had the same issuse with my kimber tactical custom II .and it worked for me .
this is just my personal experiance but it seemed to make sence .
I hope this helps .
along with the kimber ,i have a springfield xd 40 tactical and a glock 17 im considering a mp-9 my self

My M&P isn't a great precision shooter (neither am I) but WOW, when you start double and triple tapping it'll put those rounds on top of each other incredibly quickly. Great gun no issues other than getting enough ammo and trying to find spare mags.

Good news is you could file down the front site to raise the POI in the worst case situation... ;)

Me, I'd order up a set of Meprolight Night Sights for your gun. Good luck!
