First off I love this pistol (smith and wesson 9mm M&P) and am in no way complaining, just got it and have about 100 rounds through it and its amazing. Have one issue hope this doesnt make me look newbish but I cant figure this out on my own. I was under the impression this was a 10 +1 capacity handgun but when i try to insert the full mag with the slide in the forward position it will not lock in. then when i place the slide back and put full 10 in it does fit. but if i chamber a round then try to put full mag in 10+1 it will not fit and mag wont lock into place it bounces out. Am i doing something wrong or is this pistol not meant for 10 and 1 in the chamber ? thanks in advance for your help

Same goes for my Colt Gold Cup Trophy. It came with one 7rd and one 8rd mag. Loading the 7 round mag into the gun with the slide closed is no problem. Loading 8 rds into a mag tube made for 7 rds, even with a different follower, the mag a really hard to insert into the gun when the slide is closed. There is basically little room left for the bullet stack to compress.
Amazing you can even get the 10th round into the M&P mag. There are a lot of forums and threads of people having problems getting 10 rounds in especially in the generation 3 and 4 S&W M&P mags that have the "9" on the light grey mag follower.
My buddies @ g4s must have a different version or maybe the .40 cal has more clearance? Anyone know if I can use .40 cal mag in my 9mm heard you could run 9mm in the .40 cal mag gives you 12 cap
can one of the sponsors import some full capacity mags that are capped? those work so much better - I had the same problems you are talking about with the 10 round glock mags.

When I figured it out I was like wtf lol, bad enough I'm missing out on an extra 5 rounds per mag vs the US now I can't even get my full 10 + 1

I have the M&P 40 range kit which came with the Uplula mag loader. When I get to the 10th round I have to nudge down on the loader to get the 10th round in. I havent tried though to load one into the chamber and then try to add a full mag in. I will have to give this a shot tomorrow and find out for sure.

man, if pistols were so fragile that seating a tough mag would screw them up we would have serious issues

I bought a used one here a while back on the EE that had a couple thou (at least put through it) and full mags insert fine. I assume that they `loosen`up as they break in and age. I agree with the others, firearms in general are tough customers and we (I`m guilty of it too) often tend to treat them with kid gloves. I chaulk it up to the fact that we are usually talking expenses of several hundred into the thousands of hard earned dollars so the natural tendency is to treat them with a lot of care as well as respect. Cheap tools on the other hand get what they deserve-rough treatment. I have a theory about stuff that gets ridden hard and put away wet often works better over the long haul. I know it applies to snowmobiles and chainsaws... probably guns too!
