M&P 9mm pro

Could someone here please post a synopsis of the M&P v.s. M&P Pro options?

Looking for a 9mm auto with out thumb safety, and M&P apprears to be the solution. Do I really need a pro? If so, why?

Thanks,

M

You can get the standard models without magazine, thumb, and internal lock safeties.

Aside from that heavenisalie is correct. Longer slide, "worked trigger" (Go Apex anyways), and a FO front sight.

Oh, I almost forgot the cool letters "Pro" stamped on the slide! lol.

Prairie Gun Traders in Avonlea have the Range and Carry kit with 3 mags for $680. Had some with 4 mags too but I might have got the last one of those.

I have a M&P pro .40 with the APEX competition trigger package and the RAM. Probably my favorite pistol, and for the price it can't be beat. The RAM totally fixes the reset, and mine has a very distinct click. Order it from Brownell's and you be good.

No one I believe. I just ordered 'Duty Carry Action Enhancment Kit', Ram and the FRE from Brownells. Specify USPS. Shipping was $5.95. I chose the Duty/Carry over the Competition as it is for my wife. I measured stock pull at 6.5 lbs. It's gritty and has to much overtravel. This will smooth out the take-up, reduce the overtravel and provide a very positive reset. Trigger pull will be about 5.5 lbs. If you leave the stock sear spring in it will be about 5.0 lbs. The carry kit gives you about 3.0 lbs. If you have a thumb safety or 'the lock' you cannot use the RAM. Here's a list of all the parts and install vids:

Just a note about the Comp kit - while it does do exactly what they say it will (gives you a 2-3 lb trigger) it does have a drawback, the trigger reset on the comp kit is slow and very light. I actually found it was quicker to keep the standard trigger return spring and give up some ounces on the trigger pull. After all of the switching around of springs - there's a huge number of possible combinations - I found that a very nice trigger feel comes from using the firing pin block and sear, but keeping all of the other S&W springs in place. As far as reset goes, a combination of the Apex sear and tweaking the trigger bar will give a nice distinct reset, get rid of the "false reset" issue, and tell your trigger finger exactly when to stop. This is one of the great things about the M&P, once you've pulled it apart and figured out how it works, it's probably the easiest gun out there to work on.
