M&P CORE 4.25" or 5"?

I have been shooting my standard M&P 9mm for years, so I'm very familiar with how it shoots. I want to get a CORE for a bit more serious shooting, and trying to decide between the 4.25" and the 5" version. Since sight radius doesnt matter when running optics, what is the advantage of the 5" version, past a slight increase in muzzle velocity?

Never used one, but I would expect that the extra weight forward would make it more stable.

i went with the 5" just to change it up a bit as i have the 9 and the 40 in the 4.25"

Very nice set=up. Would love to get one and have it Magna Ported and use it in IPSC Open Division.

I run a 4.25" gun -- I debated getting a new one in the 5" - but want to run the same gun for EDC and Duty, as well no duty holsters seem to work for the 5" gun

The 5" when I shot it was a little easier to shoot faster, but nothing striking enough to make me have to have it.

Probably going to go with the 5" version. Irunguns has it for sale right now for $682 USD. Will have a Trijicon adjustable LED 6.5moa on top.

KevinB, do you know what holsters fit the 5" version, even if they arent Level II retention? I might modify my holster from the 4.25" range kit to fit my new 5" model.

Have not got a clue on that sorry.

I would assume you could get some kydex versions for it, but when I realized the Safariland 6035DO was not going to work, my interest in the longer gun died.

Thanks anyways. I know BladeTech makes a regular friction retention holster for it, so if modifying my stock holster doesn't work I will go with that. I'm not in Afghanistan any more, so no need for retention

Raven will make a 'custom' holster for the 5 inch guns, with or without the light of your choice, and with or without a retention strap. They'll also accommodate your choice of red dot.
