Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice.

I've got a S&W M&P Core Pro 5" in .40 and have been looking at the Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrels. Ive got APEX gear on the way to upgrade the .40 and have been wanting a 9mm as well. Could pick up a used 9mm M&P Core, but id rather drop a conversion barrel into the .40 as the guts will all be upgraded in the next few weeks.

Are the conversion barrels worth it or would I be better off buying a 9mm M&P?

Thanks.

I have the Storm Lake conversion barrel in my 5" Core. It is truly drop in and is also very accurate. I would recommend it without hesitation.

was also thinking about doing this ,, the cheapest I can find is around $260. is that the fair or you know one cheaper ?? barrel and a couple mags you would be around the $350 mark which getting up to a good used 9mm

The Storm Lake barrel won't be anymore accurate than a S&W 9MM barrel. The Smith uses a traditional 1 - 10 twist barrel now in 9MM while the Storm Lake is 1 - 16. I upgraded my M&P 9MM Pro barrel when Smith came out with the 1 - 10 twist version from their previous 1 - 18 twist. Aside from shipping, to have the Smith barrel fitted by Murray Charlton the cost for the barrel was $82Cdn. From a rest my cast bullets go into a 1" circle at 15 yards which is about as far as I can reliably hold given the state of my eyes. Storm Lake make good barrels...so does Smtih.

Take Care

Bob
