Alright - I'm buying a new pistol as a Christmas present to me - and I'm a bit torn right now. I'm looking at getting a G17 from Police Ordnance (because I can get the Mil/LE pricing which is a great deal!), but I was out at the local gun shop and checked out the M&P - though I didn't get to shoot it I was really impressed by the way it felt in my hand, how it pointed, the balance, the whole nine yards. However - the price difference is a bit annoying. Does anyone know where there are good deals to be had that might be close to competing with Police Ordnance?

FYI - I bought a G17 from Police Ordnance a few years ago (the best HG purchase I have ever made), and I had the same experience with you last year at the local gun shop. I finally got to shoot an M&P in 9mm this year, and I absolutely hated it. I thought it looked ugly, but it felt great, and then it shot like crap. Just a word of caution if you're a Glock lover - you might not like the performance of the M&P.

My experience is exactly the opposite. I don't get LEO discount, so the price is quite simular for both pistols to me. I have bought and shot a G17 on three seperate occassion and kept thinking that I'd give it another chance. But each time I failed to shoot accurately with it. I bought a M&P in 9mm about a year ago and have had great success with it. So I would suggest that you shoot both before deciding which one is right for you.

Gunnar (Armco) had some for $599 (and a barely used one for $579) a little while ago - right now I think CanadaAmmo has the best price at $659 inc. shipping.

Perry's is advertising $629.00 but you pay both taxes and shipping .
Canada Ammo is $659.00 plus taxes but free freight .
TSE in Calgary was $ 649.00 plus GST and freight .
I have no idea who has inventory but if you buy now you should be still eligible for two free magazines from S&W .

I bought the slightly used one for $579 from Gunnar. Plan to use it in IDPA SSP along with a Para Tac Five. The M&P seems to have a growing reputation stateside for reliability and accuracy. Everyone seems to agree it has better ergonomics than the Glock.

Canada Ammo at $659 is a pretty good deal though I noticed guys are getting them for as low as $399US in the States. NAFTA where are you?

Take Care

I am going to call S&W on Monday about the free mags and $50 rebate. I wonder if they'll give it to use in Canada. If not we may be able to do a deal through our US address.

CanAm

Good on you for looking after your customers.

Incidently I bought a used 30-30 off of Can-Am and it was exactly as he stated. Gun is a great shooter and a load of fun. Thanks.

Let us know!!! I think at that price you would easily get a group buy from a few of us.

Since I don't think it's some secret - latest generation G17 or G22 with Trijicon night sights is $637 plus tax and shipping. That price is for current serving or retired mil/LE purchases only though. PO also sells demos and refurbisheds as well to the general public according to their website, but don't know about the pricing.

just bought a brand new m&p 9mm from Target Sports Center for $650 + taxes. I live close enough that I'm going to drive out and pick it up instead of getting it shipped.

They honor Canadian sales,as long as you send in the form with proof of purchase. It takes a while but you do get it.

Used to be that Police Ordnance prices for LEO/Mil customers were the envy of those not in those categories...my, the prices have certainly come down...actually, you'll find that P/O uses courier shipping rather than ExpressPost, so by the time you're through you're paying more than civilians.
