M&P or Spingfield XD??

XDM all the way.

Lot's of people don't know, the pistol is not made by Springfield, it's actually made in Croatia imported by Springfield. It's also the standard issued pistol of there army (an older 4inch version) Xd and XDM are basically upgraded version. XDM as an amazing stock trigger I read and heard many people confirming that the stock trigger is better then the glock (I personally just love it).

Croatia being the awesome country that it is...

I mean clearly a first world army, with the best in equipment and all that.

StrikerSW what makes the stainless slide of your XD better than the M&P's stainless slide?

Bob

I was not stating it is better; I'm sure one stainless slide is as good as another. I just personally like the shiny stainless slide on the XDM in contrast to the black lower. I also tend to think a stainless slide won't show wear marks from holsters as quickly as some blued or black slides. My Glock has held up well but my Beretta's seems to show holster wear more from use.

Back when they were sold as HS2000s on the US market, they were also considerably less expensive than when Springfield Armory took over the distribution and started marketing them as XDs.

There are almost 3 different post going on simultaneously all bashing and supporting 3 different platforms! Carnage.

I have an M&P and my bro has an XDM. Both are real nice (I do feel the M&P is more comfortable).

The only bad thing my brother says is that mags are almost impossible to find.

We need another thread bashing supporting: CZ, HK, STEYR, and a few others and that is it. So far, the best quality firearms (in the whole world, that is) of course I am talking of Norinco, is only getting threads of how to make the Norinco 1911 even more shinier than what it is from factory. So, no, do not start a thread bashing them, because is rather impossible. LOL!!!!

I have both the M&P 9 and the SA-XD 45. They're both garbage. No wait, they're actually both excellent. No wait, they're.....put your comment here. I suspect some commentators on this thread have neither owned nor fired either of these guns. They are both very good. No, they're.....

Steyr pistols are ####.

I think they had some issues at the beginning but they seem ok now.
If it wasn't because they look like a Glock on steroids, I would get one. Also the fact that holsters and accessories in gral are almost none existent, it's a big turn off to me.

And mags are impossible to find. And i havent seen any indication that the issue has been resolved.

Haven't had the pleasure of shooting an XD at this point, but I am well satisfied with my M+P. I find the ergonomics excellent for my larger hands, and a quick flip to the small backstrap makes it perfect for the wife to use. Went that way simply because I don't enjoy the way any of the Glocks I used felt.

I have all 3 Tupperware pistols... M&P - (2)XD Springfields (9mm&40s&w) - Glock 17

The neat thing that the M&P can do is this ..

I have absolutely no brand loyalty whatsoever because thats a crock of poop.

I like all three brands and each has their distinct characteristics good & bad.

No ! Look again dammit.

The slide will close without hitting slide catch/release as you load the mag into the pistol. Most pistols requires the added action of closing the slide with a button or a lever.

And it does that consistantly? I know that poly frames flex, if I insert the mag in a certain manner with enough force my p30l does the same. I have been told by more than one instructor the dangers of not doing a tap rack routine and drilling that routine in your head. I don't rely on this autoclose feature. On a sidenote same applies for my friends glock 17. hit it hard enough at a certain angle and it auto shuts the slide. Not sure what is so special about that.

I know this becuz I learned this from another M&P owner. Its repeatable and consistent. Needs no certain angles or what ever trick. Push firmly from below and slide locks. None of the other brands can do this on a repeatable motion - only the M&P can or at least mine does and another M&P owner..
