m&p problem

I was at the range today shooting away and about halfway through a mag I pull the trigger and nothing, no jam, nothing happened no primer strike no click nothing didn't think much of it pull the action back and let her go and kept on shooting. Then four or so mags later it did it again. any ideas? I am new to pistols. and the it's a m&p 9mm about 1200 rounds through it.

+1 you must see a gunsmith.

just a guess, but maybe your trigger is not resetting properlly.
 
A couple of things come to mind, first is the gun clean (striker channel and sear area of receiver). Second has the striker snapped - remove the slide per the instruction book, push in the striker lock(round silver button thing) and slide the striker forward with your other hand.With your third hand try to wiggle the firing pin tip, if it's loose call MDCharlton. If you're not sure take it to a pistolsmith - MDCharlton are the Smith warranty depot for western Canada.

wierd, my first M&P was perfect with all 9mm (even CF with crimped primers). As soon as my second arrives, it'll be getting Fiocchi on Day 1.
 
I am using Fiocchi ammo. In fact thats all I have shot out of that pistol and have no other problems.

Are you sure you let the trigger all the way out to reset it?

Strip it down and check it out.

I tried that everything seems tight no wiggle
 
Did you ever clean the striker channel? Did you oil it? (you should not)

I had the same problem on mine (M&P 40) and found that on the primer of the ammo, there was only a small dent made by the firing pin, sometimes almost not visible on the primer.

Oil inside of it will collect crud and impede the inertia of the striker, resulting in light primer hits.

just disassemble the slide and clean the striker channel properly with a good cleaner.

Hope it's gonna help, if not...S&W have a great service

Oooops I think I did.:eek: How do I properly clean the striker? and no making fun I'm a newb;)

Sounds like a good chance of it being the 'problem'. Did you completely release the trigger and squeeze it again without racking the slide first? When you racked the slide was an unfired round ejected? Did you check out the unfired round? Did the primer get struck? More information required . . .

Well, first remove the slide and then remove the back plastic part (slide end cap no.28) of the slide.
You will need to push back the striker assembly (no.23) inside (white plastic part) to remove the cap cause it make a pressure on the slide end.

Then the striker pin disassemble completely.

Clean the interior of the slide and the striker parts with a good cleaner such as CLP Power blast. You may use some Q-Tips to help.
Let the CLP work out en then just clean with a regular solvent and reassemble.

Here is a diagram to help...

yes there was a unfired round in the chamber no primer strike

well it wasn't clean but it wasn't to dirty? i'll try to get out to the range tomorow and see if it made a difference..
