M&P selection

Wait wait! I just had a EUREKA moment!

Requires more maintenance and is more finicky because it is built to tighter tolerances......but...provides better accuracy and ergonomics?

...

Wait for it....

CZ'S ARE THE AR OF THE PISTOL WORLD! And we ALL love our AR's right?!

I don't have a problem with the CZ platform personally, but I don't expect them to perform like other "modern service pistols". They tend to be pretty accurate, have nice ergos, and triggers can be made to be pretty sweet, but they are just not as reliable as others out there. I never had any problems with mine (when I owned them), but I made sure I gave them the maintenance schedule they demand. All machines break down eventually, but some designs are more prone to failure. It's advised, for example, for a high volume CZ shooter to carry a spare slide stop, because they are known to break somewhere around 15000 rounds. They also have relatively tight chambers (helps with accuracy, hurts with reliability), and need to be kept well-lubed and fairly clean. If you're fine with that (I'm probably missing some of the cons), then they are great pistols. If you treat your pistol like most people treat their lawn mowers, then they might not be for you. If I could afford to have a larger collection, I'd have kept one or two.

Agreed. M&P is an awesome firearm! I have the M&P 40 kit and its running flawless 1000 + rounds and counting :) They never clean their range guns and except them to run perfect every time, thus have made up their mind saying its crap. My next purchase is going to be the 5" Pro Series CORE from Wanstalls with Trijicon RMR!!! Yay! Don't believe everything you hear (especially from a place that allows the public). :)

PS: IMO Go to Williams Arms in Port Perry (Its a nice drive up their and then you can stop at Haugen's for the best ribs!) if looking to buy an M&P locally. They have pretty much every model, except the CORE's which they just sold... Im sure they will help you on one of the M&P's there :)

Ya, I wouldn't put to much stock in them telling you to stay away from the M&P due to issues. Its a fine Firearm.

+1 for Williams Arms.

I'm still pushing John to get on this Forum. He would make a nice addition.
