Well first off I did a search and no I have never held an M&P up close.

Now that thats straightened out my question is about the durability of the trigger on these bad boys. From looking at pictures and what not i can see that little pin in it that looks pretty sketchy. So to all of you with first hand experience does this trigger seem to be sturdy and can stand up to lots of use?... and maybe a little abuse?

I've only put 500 rounds through my M&P45 but the trigger is excellent and sturdy. Trigger pull is very similar to a glock, I hope it will wear in nicely. The two piece trigger seems like it will stand up to a lot of rounds.

I had a problem with my striker getting dirty. You have to be careful to only oil the gun in the areas indicated in the manual. If you get oil in the striker channel it will accumulate crud and eventually result in impairing the striker movement and causing light strikes/misfires.

My fault - lesson learned.

Tons of ammo downrange in 9 and 45, no issues - think I may have worn out the slide stop on my 9mm (somewhere over 11,000 rounds, I'm too busy shooting to keep an accurate count but I go through about 4 pounds of W231 a year and I've had it 2 1/2 years -so in excess of 6500 rounds a year), it's just started to drop the slide on mag insertion - damned drills, "shoot to slide lock then..." It's a cheap part and 20 minutes to fix. If you get an M&P get an Apex trigger kit, like a trigger job in a little plastic bag. Once you get the hang of the M&P trigger you'll find it's amazingly easy to shoot accurately very, very quickly.

well this is good news. So do you guys have any problems with the pistol otherwise?

A M&P9 striker broke. (A new striker fixed that.) Then the extractor stopped extracting. (A thorough cleaning fixed that.)

I suggest that you take the precaution of keeping a spare striker for your M&P9.

FYI: CanAm has the no-magazine-disconnect M&P9JG version on their website.

2000 rounds thru my M&P 40 no issues. In fact, out of my collection of handguns this is the one I would completely trust for defense...oh I forgot...I live in Canada! In fact I am thinking of having a trigger job done on mine because it is too stiff and sturdy (in a good way). Excellent pistol in IMO, prefer the M&P's over the Glock!

Looks are deceiving. They look cheap on the inside but they seem to function flawlessly. Its the age of the mass produced gun.

I really like the M&P. Shot the .40 for the first time a few days ago and noticed the trigger pull was a little akward. Once I got the hang of it, I stopped putting all my shots down and to the left. It felt like a slightly longer/heavier pull than a glock with a stock trigger. But maybe its just me.

Once I got used to the trigger, I had a lot of fun shooting the M&P .40.

Have an M&P9 with about 2000 rounds thru it with minimal problems. Trigger seems fine. One time i was at the range and the little white dot on the front sight fell out! I took it back to the shop I bought it at and they just replaced it on the spot. That seems like a freak one in a million thing to me though.

The only other thing is I have had problems cycling lead handloads through it. I actually had a few decent jams where the spent round would extract and when the new one would try and chamber the slide would stop like maybe 1/16th of an inch from being closed all the way. Then i had to jiggle and jack on the slide pretty good to free the round/slide again. I don't even try lead in it anymore, I stick to jacketed and not a single issue.

I am not faulting the M&P on the lead handload thing, as as soon as you move away from factory ammo there could have been an error in making the handloads etc. Just sharing my experience with the gun. As far as factory ammo goes haven't had one issue. Hope this helps:)

go to mp-pistol.c om for all the m&p info you could ever want - look up the torture test to 60000 plus rounds
