M&P upgrades

I have the comp kit and trigger kit in my M&P9. I do like it but am told the feel of this set up and FSS set up are much different.

In reality they really aren't. I have both as indicated above. There is virtually no pretravel with the FSS trigger system and the trigger itself feels different on the finger as you would expect but there isn't much difference in the actual reset between the Competition kit and the FSS system. The FSS system is slightly shorter. When shooting rapidly I can't tell or measure the difference. I suspect there are better shooters than I who might be able to take advantage of the slightly faster reset. The FSS system does record a heavier trigger pull than the Competition Kit equipped gun. Again though when shooting rapidly I don't notice the difference. mudgunner49 seems to have the same opinion.

mudgunner49 Smith is not producing the 9L anymore so you might want to settle for the 9PRO. You may find one in some back corner but not likely soon.

Thanks Bob, I was not aware of that. i was trying to avoid the Pro as the sights and trigger were going to get changed and I didn't want to pay extra for something that I was just going to ditch anyway.

Guess I'll start looking for a Pro...

You are where I was earlier this year. The "PRO" doesn't really give you much other than a longer barrel over the FS gun. I ended up changing out the sights and internals anyway. Once completed it makes for a great platform though. Frankly, I wouldn't spend the extra dollars again for the FSS system. The trigger by itself is nice though.

FINALLY, installed. USPS lost my Comp AEK shipment, been 3 weeks. I emailed Brownells to see if they can trace it. I sent the email after hours. No reply. The next day, first thing, I get an automated email from Brownells, they sent me another one via UPS for free, no questions/investigations... now THAT'S service!

Installed the AEK Trigger and the Comp Kit today... oh. my. God. If you're choosing between polymers, you owe it to yourself to try my gun. The only trigger I've tried that compares to this is my friend's Ed Brown 1911 with a 3lb trigger. This one still has a little bit of pretravel unlike the 1911 but everything else is the same. The trigger is now as wide as the 1911... NO MUSH OR CRUNCHY FEEL. And I mean NONE. The crunchiness is all in the striker block. It's dome shaped instead of the stock one which is just a cylinder with a beveled edge. The reset is crystal clear, no multiple crunches or clicks.

This is my first time taking apart a gun and it took me 30 minutes, including adjusting the trigger bar loop to get the sear to rotate enough with a thou or two of overtravel (not noticeable but Apex recommends having it to protect the trigger pin).

This gun is now flawless for its kind, as far as I'm concerned.
