M&P15-22: Any issues I should know about before purchasing?

If you mean by junk as in plastic. Then yes. Do you own one? I own both the flat top and the carry handle. Yes it's plastic but shoots as good as an SR-22 or even better. Plus it's half the cost. Another thing is most people who own an sr-22 drop another $300-$600 on upgrades. Yes this is up to the individual but most do. So you have to now look at owning a rimfire that costs over $1000!
As for the M&P, if it wasn't restricted and caped to 10 rounds, my guess is alot more people wouldn't be so quick to dis it!

Pretty much (junk as in plastic), yes. I remember when I was in the market for a black .22, went over to the gun room/shooter's choice here in Waterloo and handled the mossy. The price was attractive, the AR look was attractive and 25 round factory mags to boot. I couldn't get over the feeling of just how light and cheap and junky it felt. Lots of rattle, mold lines all over the gun, nonremovable carry handle (at the time), and reviews remarking that the shell was held together with screws threaded into plastic and chronic stovepiping in some rifles.

I bought an SR22 instead due to its construction above all else. I'm well aware that the Mossy is a great little shooter. I just have zero confidence in the ability of the plastic shell to withstand multiple disassemblies and polymer rails cause me to lose sleep at night.

My first SR22 ran me $630 after tax. After I added a flash hider, quad rail, foregrip, bipod, optic and larger capacity magazines it was definitely a thousand dollar+ gun. If the price bothers you, then the mossberg, stock SR or 597 vtr might be better choices.

My second SR22 is on the way to me right now. A single brick down the pipe, quad rail, mbus, large cap mag and foregrip for $650 shipped....so a good setup can be had for significantly less than $1000.

Whatever you do OP, handle the guns you're considering before making the purchase.
