M&p15-22

I do believe the crown appealed that decision so I wouldn't bank on getting it classified to non res until the appeal has been shot down

Exactly. They use as many delay tactics as we do, if not more.

We'll win in the long-run, though. We have the truth on our side.

If this M&P is $470 USD. It should be $500 CDN. How does a rifle double in price?

It is no different than other S&W products or Remington or a Mossberg shotgun. Most rifles/pistols get sold at par with U.S MSRP. (or a fraction above)

MSRP is $932 for a 686, we pay $954 Cdn
MSRP is $719 for the M&P , we pay less in Cdn - $649....even $599 on sale.
MSRP is $499 for the M&P 15-22....shouldn't we pay the same? or less?

I find myself wishing that on a regular basis...every time a cool new gun comes along, only to learn that the Gestapo have deemed it too inherently subversive for us untermenschen.

I was shooting with a couple of US Army snipers a few weeks ago and they were amazed by our ability to freely own short barreled ARs and $500 dollar Norinco M14s made their jaws drop Norinco 305s being unobtanium in the US. They were also amazed by our army with two languages, but that is another story.

The grass is always greener...wait until the democrats start rolling in the false stats and banning stuff just like when Clinton was in power...

Huh? They can "freely" own short barreled AR's as well assuming their home state allows private ownership of NFA firearms and are willing to pay the $200 tax stamp for the priviledge of doing so. Being "free" is a relative term, isn't it? Somewhat ironic that you comment on our ability to "freely" own short barreled AR's yet we are not "free" to use them outside an approved range.

They were amazed by our army with two languages, eh? Have any idea if those "snipers" have ever heard of Latinos serving in their own armed forces, who may possibly speak Spanish?

Mmm...I smell poser.

assuming their home state allows private ownership of NFA firearms

The state they live in does not.
Thus we have something(s) as canadians that they can not have as Americans.
I am not saying our system is better or worse, just different.

I have never met a US soldier, sailor, or airman who could not speak english. I will keep looking.

generally the prices in both jurisdictions will be the same or close if supply and demand are similar and there is no artificial scarcity in one market. But you can also get high price "cream-skimming" AKA "cherry picking" when a hot new product hits the market. That's probably the case with the 15-22 in Canada. But then prices start to drop as more suppliers enter the market and competition starts.

It's all supply and demand - if there were only 100 SKS's available in all of Canada they wouold probably be worth $2000 each to wealthy collectors. But since there are thousands available they go for around the $200 mark.

The alternative is if they're all priced the same and its a popular item then you have to wait months for your turn. ( like hip replacement operations in Canada for instance) For instance I've been waiting months for a 1X4 30 mm Trijicon accupoint with green triangle. The damn thing is shown on every third gun in the popular gun press so the factory I suspect can't keep up with the demand.

IMO it's the same as driving a car, do it responsibly you keep the privledge. Act like an ass, lose the privledge. You need a licence to drive because it's potentially dangerous, so are firearms. That's why I see it as a privledge.

I should resist the urge to reply but..................

If you lose the privledge to drive on PUBLIC roads, there is nothing stopping you still legally driving on private land. There is in fact nothing in Ontario stopping someone with no driving licence from legally buying a car from a dealership....you just don't get to register it for use on public roads.

If that's the ruling, they should challenge it.

+1. but its a matter of economics. I for one would buy one in a heartbeat if it were non-retricted. but it depends on how many people are in the same position.

On the other hand I guess our ruling Upper and Lower Canada elite represented by Wendy and the RCMP CFC are recoiling in horror at the thought of hordes of the unanointed runinng around unfettered in the woods with AR15 22 RF lookalikes - just seems totally un-Canadian:rolleyes:

I finally said F it & bought a 597 VTR. Can't handel paying 50 cents a round for 223 and this M&P 22 won't probably come in tell late next year. That's if it isn't classified as restricted as most people think it will be.
