I got the m&p 15 in 223 and i took it to the range it worked great for about a 100 rounds then it would fire the round in chamber cycle the next properly but only lightly hit the primer on second. Any ideas on what could be problem all ready checked the firing pin and it functions same as a rifle thats firing second as in it comes out far enough and moves as freely any ideas could it be just dirty ?

Well, it's been pretty cold out. I've had an AR freeze up on me, then fail to cycle properly, but it was sitting for a while to get cold.

Sounds like it just wasn't locking up properly after cycling. It's possible if you were shooting slowly it wasn't generating enough heat to overcome the cold and the lube got firm, mix that with the carbon buildup.

Ammo can freeze up too. Some cheap ammo, like MFS, is just strong enough to cycle an AR, get it too cold and it can fail to cycle it all together.
Cheap ammo powder can be temp sensitive.

Hmm ok. Yeah, I haven't shot a lot of AE, but I have tried it, and it could thump rifle no problem.

Well, clean it up and try again. Try to keep the gas system free of oil.
