What do you mean “to work with the front sight”? A 3-9x scope is incompatible with irons. You likely want a lower 1/3 co-witness mount to clear the irons.
 
You may want to look at a Burris PEPR. That is what I used on mine, it clears the front sight no problem...
 
For checking accuracy or messing around with magnified optics I’ve got the Nikon P series. 2 pc. Light weight, co-witness and seem great.

Incorrect, a magnified optic works just fine with the fixed front sight on an AR. The focal point is beyond the front sight and is therefore not visible to the eye. You may see a slight blur at the bottom of the FOV but it won't obstruct in any way.
