M&P22 v.s. GSG

I've been following this thread and still can't make up my mind between Sig and M&P :bangHead:...wish I could afford both of them lol
 
Well, my MP22 showed up today. Not sure what to think if it. My GSG feels like a gun, it has the same heft as my commander. The MP22, well, I don't know. Not the same feel as my Pro.

Nice touch with the spent 22 cartridge in envelope complete with initials and date of test fire.

Too bad I won't get to the range now for 2+ weeks.

Any how, what is the wrench it comes with for?

I just got my M&P 22 today as well. To me it feels great and build seems solid thus far (the feel reminds me alot of my sig just thinner on the hand grip). Can't wait to get to the range and shoot it.
 
Anyone know what the wrench is for, that comes with a M&P22? Looks just like the wrench that came with my GSG for taking the bbl cap off. Same speed, but smaller.

From what I've seen in some videos of Americans using the gun its for removing the cap over the threading for barrel attachments. I did notice that the ones in the videos had slots for the wrench to grip but mine does not seem to.

The CZ Conversion Kit is the best kit available today hands down. Period! All steel and dead nuts reliable and accurate with any and all .22 ammo. Mount it on a 75B or variant and you have a lifetime of goodness.

I hear Apex is working on a kit for the M&P but it won't be out until 2014.

you won't be disappointed with either. at the end of the day they are both GREAT guns to shoot, that will be enjoyed and are great bang for your buck.
if i was you, i would just close my eyes and do eenymeenyminymoe, and whichever one you end up with is great.
 
I have both, and think if I had to choose one I'd pick the sig/ gsg. The margin wouldn't be huge and it could be due to the fact that I'm more used to the sig because I've had it longer. Trigger on both are nice, the finish on the sig is definitely not that durable. Ammo tolerances seem to be about the same, both will eat federal blue bulk or remington "bucket" ammo without fail.

The biggest difference is probably the weight, the sig feels like a centre fire pistol while the M&P has a much lighter feel to it. I agree with everybody that says for low budget plinking, you aren't really going to wrong with either.

Another .02 for the pile.
 
You'll know youve done a good choice buying the GSG/Sig when you try and get your M&P repaired under warranty. Total nightmare........over 6 months and stopped counting

And by all accounts they are great at it.

I had no issues whatsoever with my MP22 and I was one of the first to have em. It fed everything and was more reliable than the GSG, but the GSG did feel like more of a real gun. More weight and a solid feel, but that doesn't take away from the performance of the MP22.

The issue with warranty work is that S&W has had issues with export permits I believe. This has been going on for quite some time unfortunately.
 
I picked up the GSG but have not really shot it to get a feel for it yet. I did find that if more than 4 or 5 rounds were loaded in the mag, it would not feed properly. I'm hoping that a little wear on it will smooth things out. I've left the mag loaded up with dummy rounds for a while to see if the spring gets a bit of a relaxing set as the full mag really pinches the top rounds. I may add a drop of oil or grease to the slide areas within the mag. I've got a second mag on order that should show up very soon so will see how that works.

I noticed the slide notch wear after only racking the slide several times hard. Like others have mentioned, I filed the face of the slide stop where the plunger rides so as to keep the slide stop in its lowest position and not let the slide bounce off it. It has seemed to eliminate the contact and still holds the slide open on an empty mag.

I guess I will grudgingly pick up a guide rod/spring upgrade kit but am disappointed in this example of German engineering. Granted it is a low-end pistol but still! Also, the sights suck.
 
Got the GSG and it shoots vey nice. Only have a few rounds with it but feels great along side my other 1911's. Plan to get the MP 22 as well once I also get a MP 9

Blue Line does the warranty, as a matter of fact Ryan has sent me some replacement sights, no questions asked other than my shipping address, free of charge a few months ago. Didn't even buy the gun from them! Try getting that from S&W.
Totally converted to GSG and hoping the ZRTS performance upgrades are available soon.
