M&P40 & Copies

God damn, you need to relax. Police, CIT, most of those training are the same.

CIT actually shoots more ammo and requals more than our local cops. We requal twice a year to maintain our ATC, the cops requal once a year.

The farthest your going to have to shoot is 15yards.

When I did mine, most people never held a gun before and 40% of my hiring class made it.

More importantly than shooting well is LISTENING. Most of the people got sent home for not listening. When the say 2 shots, reload and one shot, do exactly that, no rambo ####.

You'll do fine.
Good Luck.

Which is ridiculous in itself. Money protectors getting more gun time than actual peace officers....

Money protectors have more chance of ever using their guns then the local police do in Canada me thinks. More to the point the shareholders of the companies involved in money protecting pay the tab not the tax payers. Local G4S types qualify once a year

Take Care

The fundementals of marksmanship are the same whether shooting a Glock or a Ruger or a Smith & Wesson. With solid fundementals (which is most important for a new shooter) you should shoot good groups with any pistol or revolver in your safe. Prioritize the fundementals not the model.

^^^EXACTLY

I learned how to shoot straight with an old .22 CO2 powered pellet Crosman revolver. Thousands of rounds through that thing as a kid, now I can shoot pretty much any handgun reasonably well.

Sight alignment, breathing, trigger squeeze. Practice makes perfect.

i shot my first handgun on saturday 2 of them actually first 2 mags of 22 out of the berretta u22 and then the glock 17 i found there to be little difference in actually firing and aiming the guns just the weight kick and grip slightly different. totaly different guns but like has been said same fundamentals. i watched videos on different techniques and found that the line up front sight first and then pus the gun out till your rear sights line up worked great for me. be patient and get the gun you want dont settle for something else. the m&p 9 would be a good "practice" for m&p 40 as the whole gun functions are the same as are the grip and sight picture.

elwood epps has one for a great price

Think it also depends on where you are located. In the Ottawa area, Garda uses the HK P2000 V2. G4S and Brinks use S&W M&P40.

Garda with HK? I highly doubt that. They try to cut corners on everything.

There the only company with semi-armored contractor vans on the road.

Brinks and G4S only use fully armored trucks.

Oh... you can trust my word on it ;) I would'nt have choosen that pistol myself, it's a pain in the ass to shoot :D hurts my middle finger after a couple hundred rounds. Rubs on that stupid under the trigger guard ambi mag release...

As for semi-armored trucks, maybe in Toronto but all our trucks here are '03 and up and fully armored except for ATM servicing and messaging, we use non-armored Ford Escapes and GMC Canyons...

Agreed Gribble.
Garda is the Norinco of the Security world. (No offense to Norinco.)
