I posted a while back about my M&P jamming like mad. I was using Winchester winclean ammo and I thought maybe it was the problem.

Took it out today with a couple of boxes of American Eagle and put 100+ rounds through without a glitch. Talking to someone at the place I bought the Winclean from it sounds like there are more people having problems with it. The stuff I had seemed to be very low power.

From my experience I'd recommend people stay away from this stuff.

Thanks for the update, I kind of thought there was something wrong with the ammo, my M&P was flawless ( so much so that after I traded it, I decided immediately to buy another)

I've had problems with Winclean as well (in a gun that never experienced a single malfunction of any up to that point). Looks like a defective ammo batch was allowed to slip thorough.

I went through 2 boxes of winclean in my 40 without a problem.

What kind of jamming did you experience?

I've gone through tens of thousands of rounds of WinClean with the only problem being the .44Mags were underpowered. There must be some strange consistencies going about.

Just a thought. The WinClean lead-free primers are supposed to have a relatively short shelf-life in comparison to standard lead styphenate primers. I've heard this is one of the reasons why the primers are not sold commercially. Is it possible that the problem boxes are past their "expiry date" so to speak and the primers are not properly igniting the powder?

My Desert Warrior can't feed 185gr Winclean reliably. Though 230gr WWB and Amr. Eagle run great. I had attributed it to either finicky 1911ness or being way too low power.

Like Grouse Man, I shoot WinClean out of my CZ 75B and haven't had any problems at all. I've probably put 1000 rounds of it out of my gun.

I've been saying for about 2 years now... winclean in semi-autos is "iffy" at best; I've experienced Winclean weakness as well as friends of mine on different occasions.

I've had a stovepipe in my P2000 due to winclean ammo I think. I have never limp wristed any gun, so I don't think that was the problem. I still have 450 rounds of the stuff too :(

You gotta be kidding me, right? Can limp-wristing a pistol really cause feeding problems? I'm a limp-wrister myself (when so inclined, lotsa fun one-handed witha 44 Mag and hot loads LOLOL). If that's what occasionally causes feeding problems, I sure's hell like to know.

Just put 150 or rounds so through my brand new M&P 45. It kept jamming (hangups entering chamber) on the lead 200gr semiwad that my 1911 loves. On the other hand, it happily went through 100 200 gr semiwad Frontier metalclad without a single hiccup.:D

I shot a borrowed M&P45 last week and MagTech FMJ's were hanging up going in to the chamber too (2 or 3 per box).

Not what I expected when compared to my M&P40 which did this once in 1,000 rounds (when new, and a cold winter's day).

.45 ergos are nice though.

Semiwad? You cheap bastard! Get FMJ! Get out of the smoke cloud for a while!

Oh, and hi John. How ya been? :)
