I want a Trijicon in my M&P9 but I don't have the core version...

Should I sell mine and buy the core version or a good gunsmith could make something as good as the core version? What do you guys think? What a gunsmith could do exactly?

Thanks!

Ok. And is it possible to buy only a core slide somewhere? Will it fit easilly on my version? Same barrel....?

Thanks for all the advice! :)

The CORE is a long slide. If you were to find a CORE slide, you will have issues with the sear (different shape & break point), trigger bow (USB), and upper striker blocker being out of alignment (timing). As suggested, either mill your slide, or just get the CORE. FWIW, the Tijicon has a smaller viewing port and is expensive. The Delta or C-More are larger.

If you are just looking for a non-IPSC gun, you can add the Apex forward set trigger to it as well. I have one set up with all of what you are looking for (Apex trigger 1.7 lb, Burris FF3, overtravel screw installed, USB removed). It is an accurate shooter and I barely use it. I occasionally use it as an IDPA SSE gun. Search out my threads and you will see what I tried to do with it as an open gun.

I would just sell the M&P and buy a CORE.
A friend has a short barrelled CORE, they can be obtained.
The CORE slide will fit a PRO - I asked - but S&W will not supply a stripped CORE slide for the purpose of upgrading a non-CORE M&P PRO.

What do you think about this

This is probably not as good as a core or milling but...

If it's not bad do you know where I can find this in canada? I will probably try a "cheapest" optic before a trijicon. Burris or Vortex maybe. If I like it I will buy something better and put the cheapest on my M&P22 for fun I think.

It retains an emergency rear sight.
The optic sits high.
I would suggest that if you go with a cheap optic, there is more chance that you will need the emergency rear sight.
An optic mounted on a slide really gets hammered.

The lower the sight sits on a moving slide, the better! Save yourself the grief and aggravation, get the core or get a frame mount. There is no cheap way to do it, and the cheaper way might actually be more expensive after a few replacements are factored in.

If you really want a rear sight attachment, get one specific for the sight and ensure it has a stabilizer (screw) to prevent any tipping moment.
