M&P9 or PPX

I ergos are great on m&p. I have same issue as you with g4 g17.

Never tried ppx but I have 1 g17 and 3 mp9s 4 if you include the compact. Used em thru courses and never had any issue recently. Only issue I had was with 2006 mp9 with 147gr bullets. Switched barrel and all good.

Both are really comfortable in hand. But spare mags for the M&P will be much easier to come by than the PPX.

I own both and the ppx is way better IMO. The only thing is the grip angle is a love it or hate it kind of grip as it is far from the norm. I see your in ontario. If your near windsor PM me and I'll let you shoot mine.

I was in the same position, didn't know which to go for. I looked at both, but couldn't shoot either, both really good, for me the m&p felt better to grip as my hands are small and it was quite lightweight. Due to the angle on the grip on the PPx I just felt that I would not be able to get used to it. It's a good price for a well put together firearm though.

Don't have a M&P but have the ppx, big slide, awesome trigger! Great shooter! It might help to look at hikok45's review,,, if it doesn't help your choice, at least it's always a treat watching that dude shoot!!

ive tried/owned several guns over the last six/12 months, and personally went with the M&P9 with apex fss polymer trigger

tried:
m&p stock/flat faced trigger/aluminum curved/daek trigger etc.
glock 17 gen3/4, and 19 gen3 -- various connectors, backstraps, agency trigger, zev trigger, etc.
ppq/ppx with various recoil springs (best striker fire out of box trigger ive felt)
vp9 stock
p320
sig226
fnx45t

the only one i wish i kept was the STI Tactical SS4.0, but the $2k i had into was too much capital

Leaning towards the M&p. Trying to find a good price. EE seems to be prices close to new.

Keep looking, deals will come, they're popular and some people don't put in the work to get use to trigger and sell it for something easier to shoot. I bought two almost new mp9 range kits for 550ish shipped in last six months. A new one for 575 shipped.

These two were on my final cut list too.
I ended up going with the M&P 9 and I am very happy with the S&W.

What swayed me away from the PPX is that Walther has discontinued the model with only 3 years of production.
There are also feed ramp problems being reported on the Walther forums.

Walther is a great company and I'm sure they will stand behind their product, but the discontinuation of the PPX didn't give me a comfort feel.

The M&P 9 has it's issues and growing pains as well but has been around for over 10 years, and the newer production pistols reportedly have ironed out some of the bugs.

Both good companies, I just decided on the model with more of a track record.

The PPX wasn't discontinued because of low sales or feed ramp failures (it has a lifetime warranty anyway). It in the end "competed" too much with the PPQ in Walther eyes and I think they thought it was limiting the success of the PPQ.

I think they are wrong in that assumption but that's why I've heard they pulled the PPX.

The PPX will have a much better trigger out of the box. You will have to spend some $$$ on the M&P to get the trigger to be as nice. My wife has a PPX and she loves it, the grips seem to work for at 75% of people, but if you are in the other 25% there is not much you can do to make it fit your hand. Try to hole one before you purchase. The $499 PPX deal from Flaherty's is one of the best deals going right now. You could buy one and if you didn't like it sell it with out losing much $$$ in the process.
