I just got a new M&P9 and I am finding it very hard to get the 10th round loaded in to both mags. Also when I try to put the mag in the gun with the slide closed I have to really hit the bottum of the mag hard to get it to seat right. I would like to know if any other M&P owners have had this problem and will it get easyier once I have a few hundred rounds throught the gun.

Yup. Mine was pretty much the same. I left the mags loaded for a few days and every now and then I would load/unload them while watching tv. They'll soften up a little with use. I also ordered a Maglula UpLULA around the same time I ordered my M&P, that thing was a great save on the thumb. Worth every cent.

You'll find the trigger will break in after a bit of use as well, it won't feel so gritty and will maybe feel a little lighter.

I also found, after the gun started to wear in, that if you reload from slide lock and slam the new mag in with a little extra oomph, the slide will drop on it's own. Mine started doing this every now and then after 5-600 rounds. Another few rounds and it will do it every time. I've got close on 2500 through mine so far and am loving it.

Enjoy!

nope no problems like that. but i suggest taking the mag apart clean the inside and the plastic bits polish up with novus 2 (a plastic cleaner).

how does one take the mags apart? mine does the exact same thing with the mags as well. also it may just be me but i'm having an extremely hard time hitting targets just 15 meters away. now im usually a decent shot but with this gun i can only get 8 of 10 shots on paper most of the time. usually im bangin 'em all in the circles. anybody else with this problem?

Mag seats with lighter pressure when the slide is locked open on my M&P40. Probably just added spring pressure of the magazine follower spring.

The ammo seems to make a difference on mine. Factory UMC ammo shoots a tigher group than Wolf reloads in mine. Both shoot reasonable at 20 yards, just that the UMC shoots a tighter group, more in the black with it. Certainly combat accurate at 20 yards.

im using 147 gr american eagle. i hope to god its not the ammo cus i have close to 2000 rounds of the crap. i hope its just me or the sights.

Congrats on the new purchase. Great gun. I have put through a bunch of boxes of 147 American Eagle and accuracy has been good with it.

Enjoy mine...have gotten better with it (slowly but surely) over the past year. Fits my hand and no Glock-type worries about lead reloads. Only thing I've noticed is FTF with some CCI lead-free primers (they always go off the second time, tho). But different makes of primers, no problems. Newbies (including women) also like the weight and feel of the gun.

The tenth round is a tight fit on my mags but not as bad as a GLOCK. You do have to pressure into the mag well a bit.

I'm with the above who noted that it's a great pistol. I've also put a few thousand rounds through mine, varying through 124 factory, 115 reloads, 124 reloads and 147 weak reloads without a single malfunction. I'm personally surprised the factory recoil spring can handle hot loads as well as weak ones.

It's not my most accurate pistol because of the sights. The dots suck (I've blacked out my rear ones) and the front sight seems huge for targets past 15 yards, but the pistol still shoots straight (I just don't).

I just bought my mp9 last week. The two factory mags that came with it load fine. However the third mag is a total ##### to load. I find its not possible to load by hand yet. I used a magula upula magazine loader on it and I can only squeeze in a total of nine rounds. I havnt tried loading a charged magazine into the mp9 yet to see if i have any seating problems like you experienced.

They are very tight when new, as noted a loader and a period of time letting them break in is a good idea, the 9's are nowhere near as tight as the 45's - getting the 10th round in those is a real pain. As far as accuracy goes, once everything is broken in and you get used to the trigger it's much easier to score good hits at reasonable ranges. You might want to try polishing the trigger's mating surfaces, and the face of the striker where it contacts the sear. Those surfaces are not polished at all from the factory. Also check out mp-pistol.com for info on trigger work and everything else. I have thousands of rounds through 3 of these pistols without issue (somewhere between 8,500-9,000) and for the price and intended role I think they're a fantastic deal. Todd Green felt he got better accuracy through his 'torture test gun' with high pressure loadings (FWIW) so maybe lighter bullets at higher velocities will provide a slight edge in the accuracy department, I'm not really good enough to spot the difference.

The 10th round was difficult on my Girl friends M&P. As for really having to drive the mag home when loading.... that was not something we experienced on ours.

One thing I noticed, is it really does not like limp wristing. It was jamming twice per mag until I showed her how to hold the thing properly.
