Basically in a "nutshell" you go to BGC and pick out the firearm of choice, I can only speak to handguns, however they can do some rifles.
Put down a deposit to start the export permit process, and return home with the pistols info (serial # etc) register the pistol via the CFC website. Wait for the call from BGC, get the ATT from the border to your home.Attend BGC, you follow there driver to the border, he declares the firearm, you pay the taxes, he hands it over to you, and you proceed home.
sh*t simple. They know the "drill" so there are no surprises.
(BTW in my case I called to see if they had the specific firearm, used my CC and got the info over the phone.) If you know what you want you only have to make one trip)
