M-Pro 7 vs BreakFree CLP

I use MPro 7 on my hanguns. It cleans very well and seems to be the best thing I've found so far to clean lead from the cylinder face on a revolver.
It doesn't have any lubricanting properties though so you still need something to lube and protect the metal

They all meet the 63460 spec. CLP is good stuff, there are only two plants that make it. I have 4 drums of the stuff coming so I should hope it's good!

Does the trick for me. ;)

I haven't used the CLP version of M-Pro 7. Until today I didn't know it existed. The M-Pro 7 that I use is the cleaner only and it is a very good product but it leaves no trace behind. You definitely have to use a protective product of some kind after use. I Might try the CLP version to see how it works but I haven't found any combination product that I'm entirely happy with.

I use M-Pro 7 cleaner and have found it generally works very well for handguns, shotguns and low velocity rifles. It won't remove copper from high velocity rounds as that copper is "welded" to the steel, not just rubbed off as happens with low velocity rounds.

I then usually apply a dedicated protectant, Eezox for rust protection. Lubrication for moving parts is a synthetic oil.

I also use Break-Free CLP for getting rusted things unstuck and sometimes for cleaning and lubricating guns.

M-Pro 7 is apparently the same product as Hoppe's Elite Gun cleaner...
Once again, it doesn't do s**t on rifle copper fouling and it's critical to lubricate afterwards...
CLP products used alone are a reasonable, convenient compromise for the
military and those less obsessed civilians, but they can't do as good an overall
job as dedicated cleaners, lubricants and rust protectants.
In the middle of nowhere, I would be happy to use them, but since I'm not, I choose to use a series of better suited, more specific products.
Just my $0.02 worth....

M-pro 7 Military Grade Cleaner Lubricant Protectant (CLP) provides field cleaning along with superior lubrication and corrosion protection. More advanced then Teflon or Moly, our CLP uses a synthetic thin-coat technology. Rated at -76 to +800 Fahrenheit, it surpasses MIL-L-63640 and is non-toxic, non-flammable and biodegradable with low odor.

I have not seen M-Pro 7 in Lower Mainland B.C.. Does anyone know who carry them ? I would like to try because Breakfree and Hoppe have bad smell.

Never tried mpro7 clp but the cleaner does a good job on dirt & crud, zip on copper. Its water based so its good for cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo. I have to agree on the above comment, the only thing that smells better that hoppes is new gun smell.

I will admit, I love the smell of cosmoline, hopps and gunpowder.

I guess the only downside to M-pro 7 is there is no smell to trigger fond memories. :)
