M1 30-06 to 308 conversion

There are do-it-yourself Navy Chamber adapters .... I had one and it worked OK.
However, to do it right you need a .308 Win barrel swap, and a special "feeder block" to take up space between the clip and the chamber.

PS: At Barney's Wet Coast M-14 seminar a few years back, I saw a US GI M1 Garand reeciver that had been retrofitted with Chinese M-14 parts, and it worked out really nice.

You do not need the block for the rifle to work. That is just to make it impossible to insert a clip full of .30-06. I do not recommend the inserts, they have a tendency of coming out during firing!!!
Milarm had some 7.62/.308 barrels, I put one on a Breda and it works great. Why don't you PM me and we will discuss this work for you!

Tradeex no longer has the $200 .308 M-1 barrels on their website. You could drop them a line and see if they will be getting any more.

"...have a tendency of coming out..." Yep. Which is exactly why the U.S. Boat People quit using them. They don't work reliably.
