M1 arriving soon in the US

Stupid about the m1's though once the new Rep. President gets in they'll hopefully release the S.Koreans to sell them back. The Garands however, I will get 2 of them. one to make all nice and pretty and one to bastardize :D
Also wont pay over 500 for mine either

evey large dealer importer i know of has been working on trying to get these guys for years, as ther was a chance the US would not allow them back in.
but if obama does then no chance canada will see them.
Lots of stuff liek this sitting in lock up around the world.

This is unfortunate news for us in Canada.
I hoped that they would not be allowed into the US, so that we might get a chance at them.

This US law (prohibiting previously exported military firearms from being re-imported) has been on the books forever

There is a distinction between rifles that were sent as military aid and those that were sold to foreign military. If it was a military aid/lend lease rifle these are indeed importable. The CMP sells thousands of them. I have two myself. They are just out of most of the carbines right now as most of the Garands and carbines that were sent as military aid have already come back to US arsenals and were turned over to the CMP for sale.

These 86,000 rifles fell under foreign military sales program I believe. They were bought by the Koreans and therefore do not fall under any obligation to be returned to the US arsenals. The CMP Director of Operations Orest Michaels has already stated clearly that the CMP will not be getting these rifles. They are not part of the charter agreement with the government. These can be bought and sold by any importer. BHO and the Wicked Witch of the State department wanted to block the importation of evil military rifles simply because they could. It looks like now that the Garands will be imported. I have not heard anything about the Carbines. A M2 would be nice to have though. :D

You can guarantee the same thing would happen to them, if they were imported into Canada as has happened in the past.

A very small percentage would stay in Canada and the rest would be stripped down the the receivers for parts kits, which would be importable in the US.
