Hello people

I have seen M1 Carbine synthetic folding stock, similar to that for SKS in Cabella's catalogue. I wonder if there is Canadian dealer who may carry similar stuff for M1 Carbine. Not that I really need it, but this is my newest toy, got that itch you know... And I am not too happy with collapsible stock I have now.

or trades anyone?

Do you want accuracy, or do you want "look cool factor"? If you want a more accurate gun, get a USGI stock in reasonably good condition. If you mostly want LCF, then plastic is fine. My experience with the synthetic stocks (not a folder, but still plastic) is that the material is not stiff enough to properly support the recoil plate for correct receiver tension, especially in the long term. Alignment of the plate can also be an issue.

Of course, other people may have had a more positive experience with synthetic carbine stocks, so take my comments for what they are - one person's opinion.

One more thing - if you are shooting a commercial M1 Carbine, USGI stocks may not fit. It depends on the make of your gun.

Plinker, thanx for heads up, I had enough of stiffness issues with synthetic stocks. I thought with such mild cartridge soft plastic wouldn't matter that much. Mine is Plainfield by the way, I heard they are compatible with USGI jewellery.

I actually have full wood stock, bought it for 20$ from tradeex. It has a bit of a crack though and I want folder, yes it probably just an LCF thing.
