Can anyone help ID a source on one of these? Anyone is still making them? Looking for new manufacture or surplus full length barrels. Not really interested in the add on sleeved barrels.

I can't really help you with the first part about getting a longer barrel but the sleeved barrels will not do you any good because the govt. won't accept them for being non-restricted. Rifling must be to the end of the barrel.

Post a WTB ad in the EE forums and maybe someone can help you out.

"...surplus full length barrels..." No such thing as a surplus Canadian non-restricted barrel. Doubt you'll find a new barrel either. Not enough market. The only currently manufactured M-1 Carbine copy, as far as I know, is the Kahr. Unknown quality. Too new. You likely won't see them here either. Restricted and not enough market to bother.

Thanks for the advise everyone. I did manage to find a manufacturer but they have a 100 barrel minimum for custom lenght barrels. Just need to find a reseller willing to help or start up a group buy.

M! Carbine barrel

Ripstop is correct. The current rules call of uninterrupted rifling. But with a change of government, maybe just maybe this is an example of a useless rule that could be changed. The only legitimate purpose of the current rule is to prevent concealability which could be accomplished with a permantely attached extension. In the old days a short length of surplus 303 barrel could be welded to a carbine barrel. How do we get the current rule changed?

303 barrel ?

The M1 carbine takes a 1-20 rt hand twist barrel. All the 303 barrels that I have seen are 1-10 twist left hand. This would make for some interesting effects on the bullets as they reached this barrel extension. The 311. bore will still engage a 308 bullet even if only poorly. Would probably explode the bullet from the jacket trying to go left and the lead core going right.

Sorry for lack of clarity. The barrel piece is bored out, no intention to make the rifling match up, just a piece of steel welded to the end. of the carbine barrel. Anothe rapproach is to permanetly attach an after market flash hider of some sort.

There was a piece of 8mm barrel welded onto the end of my old barrel. The rifling and everything looked to line up but the bore was a little bigger in diameter.

Still not legal so I put an ad looking for one here and found one.
