M1 Carbine Handguard

Put it in the freezer. Different metal different expansion and contraction. Worked for me. Other time banged butt on the floor. Of course bolt held back. Do not use sharp things like taps etc unless your trained in the use gets expensive that way. Take your time

Remember heat causes expansion (Unless your freezing water :) )
Cold causes contraction (unless your freezing water ;) )

Got it. Used an easy out and let some g96 soak in for a day. Guess I'll get my scope camera out and make sure the chamber isn't screwed. I actually found a good website with some good info. Now to do some research before I head out with this puppy. M1carbinesinc....who woulda thought...lol
I'm waiting on a fellow CGNer for a reply but I'll check out Liberty. Thanks for the heads up!

it should be impossible for an m1 carbine to fire out of battery

is it usgi? the usgi receivers have a bridge that prevents firing pin from going forward if bolt is not closed

if the firing pin moving freely? remove bolt and shake it if it is GI (if aftermarket cant help you) you can take bolt apart and check firing pin I had one that was slightly bent at the tip and wouldn't always fire as it hung up

Negative, it's not USGI. It's made by Universal, which apparently wasn't made to USGI spec, including 2 safety features to prevent FOB...sad face emoji

I had a universal, check to see if the receiver isn't cracked. It would spit out an extra cartridge when ejecting because the receiver would kinda spread apart

The early made universals are supposed to be good and used many usgi parts
The later ones were pretty poor quality I read and usgi parts won't fit on them. I have a Plainfield machine m1 carbine and so far it's been good
As for your hand guard I saw some on e bay from the U.K. That were reasonably priced
