M1 carbine magazine question

15 round magazines were uses in WWII, with the invention of the M2, 30 round magazines were adopted for both. Note MAGAZINES. Clips were 10 round and required the use of a stripper clip guide to load the MAGAZINE.

15 rnd was the stabdard untill summer of 1945 when the m2 carbine and a 30 rnd mag was issiued

the legal maxium in canada is 5 rnds for this magazine your mag must be pinned to 5 rnds or less

most 30 rnd mags around are aftermarket crap if they are marked m2 ONLY they are fakes

They made 30 mags for the M2 full auto version of the M1. They were interchangeable. They had a curve to them like most mags now.
They were also called Banana mags ( because of the shape ).

There was a special clip made that allowed 2 to be put side by side. When one mag was empty , you ejected it & turned the whole thing over & put the 2nd mag in for a total of 60 rounds.

"...There are also short 5 round mags..." Those are usually cut down 15 round mags. Made for hunting Stateside. There are a lot of States that have a hunting rifle mag capacity law. Some States don't allow the .30 carbine for deer hunting either.
