M1 carbine magazines

I picked up some 15(5) round mags off the EE a few months back for $35 bucks each. They can run a little cheaper but depends on the condition.

The 30(5) round mags usuall run around $60 to $65.

Nice minty maker marked USGI mags that are tastefully reduced to 5 rounds should easily bring at least $35. They are getting tougher to find in Canada in collectible condition:

Ratty, pop-riveted shooter grade mags I would say more like $20-25. I still see them at gun shows regularly.

Is this a pic of a "tastefully modified" 15 rd mag, and just how do they do this mod?

I pinned mine by welding a steel rod onto the follower of the magazine. It fits down the inside of the spring, and bottoms out against the floor plate when five rounds are loaded. It works 100% and is invisible from the outside, other than some very slight bluing discoloration on the follower from the heat generated by welding.

I had AdamP pin mine for me:

In my opinion, this is the absolute best way to pin M1 Carbine mags. Unfortunately, most M1 Carbine mags have already been pinned by bubba via pop-rivet or denting the side of the mag :HR:
