I picked up an Auto-Ord Carbine a month or two ago and I'm pretty happy with it. Fired a couple of boxes through it and didn't have any malfunctions. My only wish is that it came with nicer adjustable rear sight instead of the flip ones. I'll end up replacing it at some point, but for now, it's a fun little blinker!
the Original USGI m1 carbines had the flip rear sights adjustable were upgrades honestly set the sight up and you never move it on these guns
I thought I had read that the early production Carbines had the adjustable rear sights, but as production ramped up and material supplies dwindled, they changed out the more labour intensive adjustable ones for the simple flip sights.
I know once its adjusted I'll likely never touch it again, but I still want to have one so I can dial it in a better to make POA with POI
Seems hard to find a nice rebarelled M1..?
I have an AO. It cycles everything I put in the mags. Ball or soft points, it doesn’t matter. It is a fun shooter.
The new production M1 carbines are ok in quality but the original ww2 guns were better built. There has been quite a few makers of these guns since, some are as good as the ww2 guns some are poor. There is a pretty good website that goes into alot of detail regarding the different M1 carbines. Lots of info there. ht tp://www.m1carbinesinc.com/index.html
