The Canada of your youth isn't coming back, it's Kanaderp now. Harper was the last chance for a halfway decent Federal Govt. The differences between East and West are too great and the hole that has been dug by Eastern voters is too deep. Let Carney deal with DT, it isn't going to end well for Kanaderp, the car assembly business is going to move South. Only the West has the ability to be an economically viable Country going forward. Makes you wonder who was behind the Tanker Ban and quashing pipelines to Tidewater, makes you think there was a deal, the Laurentians get to keep their sandbox in exchange for exclusive access to Western energy resources.. Your notion of Treason carries no weight; Kebec has had 2 votes on leaving, has had separatist Govts and has Separatist MPs in Parliament. Not to mention the influence of Foreign actors on all levels of Govt and the constant thwarting of Western interests.
Unless the CPC gets a Super Majority they're not going to roll back the Gun Bans, the excuse will be that they need to remain competitive in Kebec and Southern Ontario. Even the Harper Govt had to take a lot of water with their wine because of the milquetoast "Conservatives" in the East.
If Wexit won't happen I'll take the Bill of Rights and access to better weather and a larger more dynamic market for me and my kids, not to mention the cultural similarities and indeed family connections. Either way I'll happily not give a sh*t about Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal or have French on my cereal box. I do feel bad for the Maritimes, while many have a tendancy to vote for the Liberals, there are still some decent people there, and they know what it is like to be parasitized by Ontario and Kebec, but geography is what it is and they may prosper yet as an extension of New England.

You know, most of Ontario and Quebec geographically do not agree with gullible soccer moms in Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City. That’s the liberal power base. That and the beta males that thing there are more than 2 genders. Most of Ontario is actually conservative, but however Toronto votes, it drags the whole province with it.
Kinda like Vancouver and BC.
Alberta is also not what it once was. Been to Calgary lately?
Personally I want Toronto to separate from Ontario and ascend to the city state status it clearly and self-congratulatorily deserves.

I've been to the Yukon and Nova Scotia, have you? Been to Montreal and the Plains of Abraham too. Been to Bienfait, Saskatchewan as well. Whose fault is it that NE Calgary is now Little Mogadishu?

Meantime, M1 Carbines are safe queens pending confiscation/destruction with or without compensation from the govt. 
The Carbine story started downhill back in the 1970s when they were the preferred choice of Montreal bank robbers and gangsters. The Liberal's response to the criminals was to make the M1 Carbine restricted, but this didn't appear to cut down on crime one bit. They've remained faithful to this pattern ever since.

I’ve lived in NS, NB, BC, ON, SK, NFLD and QC in my life and have visited every province and territory multiple times.
I am not strictly an “eastern Canadian” whatever the hell that means.
As for Calgary, maybe go ask Nenshi? I suspect it’s actually AB companies that imported labor over the last 20 years that’s truly to blame for the changing political bent of your province.
Definitely I had zero to do with it.

Some were changed to a 18.6 " and reclassified, some made new with a longer barrel and a bunch here in BC were converted to bolt-action. I have one of those and have no clue on it's current standing.
Sometimes I wish lived on a farm in the prairies and could shoot anything out the back door for hundreds of yards. Then I think of the snow and the bugs. Dang!
