Anyone know where one can purchase parts kits for the M1 Carbine? Anyone have a favourite source of individual parts?

Also, anyone that has dealt with old M1 Carbines, what parts often need replacing?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The parts that often need replacement (in my experience) are:

-slide spring
-slide (or you can weld repair the tab)
-front sight if it’s been over-filed and no longer shoots to point of aim
-hammer if it’s seen extreme wear
-bolt springs if they are worn out
-extractor plunger (if worn)
-magazine if they stop being reliable

That’s about it unless you break a bolt lug.

Only broken part I've seen was one of the guide lugs in the operating slide. Operating slide is a major part. A repair by a skilled welder would be an option. I chose to get a replacement slide.
Marstar lists some parts, sold out of many.

There are two CGN members that regularly sell M1 Carbine parts on the EE

Gunsdora
They are both great guys to deal with and probably will have what you need

Also Fleabay is a good source BUT.... don't order ANYTHING from U.S. sellers
Shipping and Customs is cheaper and faster if you order from Europe.
I have had great success ordering parts from Belgium, France, Greece and Italy
I have never bought carbine parts from a retail outlet

Thanks for the responses everyone, extremely helpful.

Numrich Gun Parts appears to be American. I though USA couldn’t export gun parts?

No, that is incorrect.
Companies like Numrich, Brownells, have export departments. They know what they can and cannot export.

Gas piston wrench / bolt disassembly tool( beats looking for the springs after they are launched) I also bought front sight disassembly tool came in handy when doing barrel work. Thats it for me
