I have just joined the M1 carbine owners club. I picked-up some mags, sling and oiler from Anthony. I would like to buy M1 carbine stock mounted magazine pouch. Does anyone know where to get one in Canada? Are the war issue ones difficult to find or is there too much of a chance of fakes? I will post pics when the rifle arrives.

Thanks

Marstar sells India-made repros which are not too good. However I have a good collection of them now and the majority of them I bought on ebay. Expect to pay about $15.00 per unit. There are a couple good repros (they aren't fakes when made, just if they are sold as 'originals') I think alot of the Biscayne Tent & Awning, are repos. The "G&R Co." ones are, but they look good and do the trick if you don't want to wreck one of the originals.

Hope that helps

They were never intended to be on the stock. Getting a mag out of one is extremely awkward and two loaded mags significantly changes the balance. However, you might find one at a gun show. It'd likely be a reproduction though. Nothing new has been made for issue to troopies in 40 plus years.

A few years ago many appeared on the surplus market original ww2 never used I have about 20 stone mint U.S.M.C boyt 45 stock pouches (not for sale) above post is correct they were meant for use on the pistol belt NOT the stock i guess a GI found you could slide it on the stock..be warned through the button the the pouch WILL scratch your stock up good

The original pouches for the 15-round carbine magazines were designed to be worn on the pistol belt in place of the double pouch for the .45 pistol magazines. The carbine was designed to replace the pistol for troops normally assigned one. As a result the pouch had a snap fastener to allow it to be attached to the corresponding stud on the pistol belt. The snap fastener was attached to a sleeve. The pistol belt could be slid through this sleeve so as to mount more than one on an issue pistol belt.

Alternatively, it was found that the sleeve arrangement allowed the magazine pouch to be slid over the end of a carbine and would fit nicely on the stock. The stock put enough pressure on the sleeve to keep the pouch in place and a total of 45 round of .30 carbine could be carried on the weapon itself: 15 in the loaded magazine (in rifle) and two loaded 15-round magazines on the stock.

Later on, the design of the magazine pouch for the 15-round carbine magazines was changed to two parallel cloth straps. This pouch would slide onto the pistol belt, but there was no fastener to attach it to the stud on the belt, nor would it fit onto the carbine as the early pouch did.
