Hey guys,
I recently came into possession of an M1 carbine and was wondering if anyone could give me any additional information and possibly a ball park value. Here is what I know about the gun so far.
The receiver is marked UNDERWOOD and the serial # seems to indicate it was produced in the first half of 1944. The barrel has been changed and the gun is classified non restricted (my brother took it to a gun shop who checked the gun and measured the barrel). The rear sight appears to be a type 2. The stock appears to have been sanded and refinished but does look like an original. The sling cutout on the stock has a marking (IO or OI). The front stock clasp is marked P1.
Is there anything else I should be looking for on this gun? Does the fact that the receiver and the stock appear to have been manufactured by different companies mean this is a frankensteined firearm?
Thanks in advance fellas.
