perhaps this is the wrong forum if so let me know. im an owner of a auto ordinance M1 carbine. fun little rifle i dont care what people say about FTF or FTE i have not had a single problem and i have spents hundreds and hundreds of rounds. what im looking to do is mount a red dot on it for shooting prarie dogs this summer. Does any one on here have any knowlege on this topic? i have seen upper hand guards that have rails i would even be open to that. though i would really like to stay with a wooden handguard so i might even see about getting a hand guard made out of would and mounting a small rail on it just big enough for a red dot. any suggestions?

thanks for your time.

oh p.s if you have pics of projects feel free to share. im looking to slightly update but not B!@#$@#@!!@

I totally jimmy rigged a rail on the barrel shroud. Took a rail, drilled 4 screws directly into it. Bubba'd as hellllll. Put my EOtech on it, was hard to sight in but once she was sighted in it worked fine for the few hundred rounds I put through. I took it off later cuz I put the EOtech on another gun. but its doable. Wabbly but doable lol

Utimak m6 rail should suit your needs, also Sage has made a full tactifool stock for the m1carbine. I personally like the m1 the way it is, as it fufills my needs as it sits

This is what gave me the run through!

edit: last time i did it was a few years back. i did not have the tools for it and pretty much jimmyrigged everything. hence the "i drink a lot" part. was kind of a pain in the ass lol

just remember: always push left to right for removal, right to left for the install.

I like the M1 carbine as is, but this is pretty neat.

I would only do it to a new mfg one though, not an original.
