I was wondering how many people have been buying M1 D Sniper Rifles and thre accessories over the years
DistriCorp made up and sold USGI scope and flash hider sets for about a week when they first got
the M1D rifles. Then they also sold complete rifles for about two weeks, then some American Company
bought them all for parts kits.
All the scopes were Danish marked and clear or a few light bubbles from lens glue separation
I got number 277 up 4000 scope numbers all the flash hiders seem to be milled
Century and Lever sold M1 D's without the scopes and flash hiders back in the day
The scopes and flash hiders went to a Dealer in California
I got one gun that Lever got that came with the scope and flash hider . No markings except for the
American one's
I bought the complete Districorp M1D rifle 's and some of the scope and flash hider sets.

I bought a complete Danish surplus M1D, less cheek piece, from Lever 21-22 yrs ago. Since then I've also found a NOS M1D barrel, a USGI mount, flash hider, M84 scope and cheekpiece. The are lots of repro mounts, barrel blocks, M84 scopes and cheekpieces out there. I've never seen a repro flash hider, but no doubt they'll be along.;)

Real M1D barrels are made by Springfield Armory and have a unique Drawing Number, D71312555, on the top or side of the barrel depending on mfr date. Original M84 scopes are approx 70 yrs old and paint can flake off on the inside of the tube. They can still hold their zero OK in spite of that.

I've recently been doing some bench shooting with one of my M1Ds. Some observations;

- average of 12 three shot groups @ 100 yds - 1.27", smallest .5", largest -2.4"

- best performer was 150gr Hornady FMJ with 48 gr IMR 4064 with groups averaging .825"

- average group size with 168gr Hornady Match with 46 gr IMR 4064 is 1.6"

The M84 scope is low powered, but does help resolve the sight picture. I shoot off the top of the post with a 6 o'clock hold. I shoot with the flash hider remover which I consider damaging to accuracy, but it does look uber cool.

I have the following Danish M84 scope numbers with guns etc
263,23385,20085,20360,71,23472,23649,22709,19129 spare scope 20230 and milled SA flash hider
US M84 scope with gun 40214
