M1 Garand 2 & 5 round clips

In that copy of the "Rifleman" I mentioned, there was an article abut shooting the M1 in US National matches. There is a method of topping off an M1 clip in order to shoot a 10 rd string in competition.

It takes considerable practice and dexterity. Most found it more expedient to simply load another 8 rd clip and use the clip release to unload remaining rds.

The idea of loading dummy rds as the last rds (first in) is a good idea, especially where the M1 might be restricted to 5 rds. Fortunately, that is not the case in Canada - yet.

You don't need special clips to load 5 rounds into your Garand.
A standard 8 round clip can be used to load anywhere from 1-8 rounds.
Lots of videos on youtube on how to do it.
