Advice needed

I have an M1 that i just got a replacement ( new manufacture ) boyds stock for, everything went together perfectly but I was finally able to get out to the range today and found that the enbloc clip won't eject after the last round. I tried 6 or 8 different enblocs, all the same problem.

When i put the replacement stock on originally, latching the trigger group in was really quite tight. I had to give the trigger guard a pretty good whack with the heel of my hand.

I just thought to try the original stock again and trigger group latches easily and when i push in an empty clip and pull the op rod handle back to simulate the action the enbloc flies out as it should.

Any idea what could be causing this ? any idea of where to look to see where it could be binding. could it be because the trigger group is so hard to latch its putting undue pressure on something?

any and all ideas would be appreciated

Check the inletting on the new stock to make sure that there is enough clearance for the "tail" of the clip latch to move w/o interference from the stock. If this is the case, a bit of wood can be removed.

Tight closure of the trigger guard is a good thing; that ensures that the rifle can't move in the stock. I like them to fit so that they need a mild whack with a rubber hammer to lock up.

I had the same problem with mine. Some removal around the external portion of the clip latch should do the trick. FYI it is a good thing the trigger group is tight. That is the biggest problem on M1s when it comes to accuracy, a loose fit in the stock due to the latching mechanism. Latch it and leave it. Try your hardest to avoid taking the rifle in and out of the stock as it ruins the bedding. Many match shooters will leave the trigger group in the rifle but unlatched, only latching it on the range which ensures the wood fibres aren't crushed over time and keeps the bedding tight.
