Well..........
After 2 weeks of cleaning, and crossing my fingers, I have come to the conclusion that the barrel on my reciently purchased M1 Garand is indeed pooched. I cleaned through about a million rounds of copper buildup, only to find that the barrel is coated in a not so fine layer of rust. The action is an actual Springfield Armory, and is in good shape, but the op rod is definitely in need of re-shaping.
Does anyone know who does the best job (preferrably not breaking the bank) on re-barreling these beasts? This isn't going to be a national match gun, just a shooter beside my M14 (305).
I don't know how the heck I got involved in these battle rifles (and handguns for that matter), but I'm here, and dangit, I'm gonna make this Garand sing!
It's gonna have to be done after I have Dlask turn my M14 into a shorty (that's the way I like em), so I'm gonna have to put this thing on the back burner for a while.
Sometimes I feel like I'm d:h: when it comes to guns.
UUUUUUUUUUUGGGGG!!! Mike

Hey
Send m14doctor an email. Two weeks back he had a kreiger garand barrel. He got it by mistake instead of my m14 barrel. Nit sure if he'll do the install but he may be able to sell it to you
