I was tossing up the idea of children or building a Garand, so I built the Garand. Less headaches

A great deal depends on make, year and condition. I wouldn't expect to find anything worth having except as a rebuild project for under $1000. I sold a 1942 rebarreled Springfield a few years ago for $1300 IIRC and I think both sides of the deal felt satisfaction.

But...rarer makes, all original parts, excellent wood, excellent metal and finish will make the price go up and up...
