Not to mention those crappy chu wood stock and uninspiring Norinco trade mark on the receiver. Some true classics in this world are not meant to be copied or duplicated. M1 Garand is one of them.

Why would anyone vote No? The more Guns, the better!! The people who want a Nork M1 can buy one... the people who want an original M1 can buy one....

What's the problem?

the answer is still no- there are enough garands floating around without diluting the gene pool with a chinese knockoff

Really? How could a Norinco Garand 'dilute' the current milsurp stock? The definition of milsurp is that... you know... former military... now surplus... i.e. Not in current full scale production!?

If anything, Norinco Garands on the Canadian market would bring the price of real M1 Garands to more reasonable levels.

.223 would not increase the capacity as the M1 Garand is named specifically in the legislation as being allowed 8 rounds. If they call it something else (like they called the M14 the M305), then unless the government recognizes it as a variant of the M1, it may very well be capped at 5 rounds.

A lot of people would hunt/hike with their M1's if they weren't so damn heavy (some people do despite it, but they still ##### about it).

If they made a run with 18.6" barrels, I think they would fit a nice niche (and you wouldn't need to rape a piece of history to do it).

I'm thinking into building .308 Garand that takes mags from Italian parts, but I have no free funds for it. You can buy receiver for about $100, but all other parts would cost about $900. :(

Spaghetti M1

I own lots of shootin' irons and my Paisan rebuilt M1 rechambered to 7.62X51 is my favourite long-arm.
