The part numbers have the makers initials on them, (SA for Springfield Armoury, WRA for Winchester, and IH for International Harvester (I think it is IH))

The value of your rifle increases with a lower serial number (six digits for example instead of seven) and if the parts are all SA marked as yours in a Springfield.

Cheers

AA on the stock stands for Augusta Arsenal were many M-1 Garands were re-built for the US Military.

OMG! Where did you get that piece of junk ? :nest:

You will just have to give it to me!

Okay, jokes aside... you have a fine piece of history there. Very nice ! Get out and shoot it. :D

Garands in decent condition have been listed from $650 to over $1000 lately, though I'm not sure how many have sold at the higher end. Your Garand is in similar condition to mine was when I first got it almost 20 years ago, which also went through rebuild in Augusta Arsenal most likely in the early '60's from what I have read. I wouldn't be surprised if yours is in the 5 million serial number range as well. Most buyers are not critical on "all correct" rifles as they are pretty much non existant after one rebuild, overall your rifle is much better than average IMHO. I have been shooting mine for many years and it is a great rifle which I would never sell.

thank you soo much for your great feedback. i have learned alot. i will check the serial numbers when i wake up. i have another one as well i will take pictures of. i think i traded some stuff for it at a gun show 10 years ago.

Find yourself some enbloc clips...lots.
Go buy some 150 grain 30-06 ammo, load the clips and go out to the range and start shooting.
Just make sure you wear the adult size "Depends" underwear.
Because you are going to have so much fun you will soil your trousers.
Cheers
BTW, that is one killer Garand!!!!!
