Hi, is there a fix for firing pin protrusion on an M1 Garand? Starting to get a light dimple on my primers if I rack the shells out one at a time as opposed to using the mag release. Or is this indicative of a headspace issue?

There is no firing pin spring in the M1 Garand, you do not have a problem. Always load from the clip, never put a round in the chamber and let the bolt slam home, especially if it is in .308/7.62 NATO.

You will most always see a small indent in the primer when using a Garand or an M-14. If reloading use harder primers and seat them to the bottom of the primer pocket, like it is supposed to me done.

This is a normal condition for M1/M14/M1A/M305 type rifles. It's because of the free floating firing pin banging back and forth  When reloading, don't use soft primers. Otherwise, like I said ignore the slight dimpling

"...no firing pin spring in the M1 Garand..." Right. Oh silly me. Beer apparently has some kind of effect on one's mind.
The bath still applies though. There's no need for any special primer either. Regular large rifle primers will be fine.
